2017

Darshan Productions Founded in Belagavi Body

Shrikant Desai, MD of the Darshan Group, establishes Darshan Production Pvt. Ltd. in Belagavi, Karnataka — a tribute to his late father-in-law Ram Yedekar, the legendary Art Director of Sholay, Gandhi, and Guide. The house is founded on a commitment to award-winning Marathi cinema, multilingual storytelling, and backing emerging Indian filmmaking talent.

2018

Debut — Teen Paayancha Ghoda

Our debut literary drama introduced Darshan Productions to Marathi audiences across Maharashtra and Karnataka. A coming-of-age story adapted from a beloved literary source, Teen Paayancha Ghoda earned festival recognition and established our voice in independent Indian cinema.

2020

Amaltash Musical Drama, 11 Filmfare Nominations Body

Our musical drama Amaltash earned 11 nominations at the 9th Filmfare Marathi Awards, winning 3 — including Best Lyrics for the late Shanta Shelke and Best Playback Singer (Male) for Rahul Deshpande. A meditation on music, memory, and intergenerational connection.

2022

Mee Vasantrao — 7 Filmfare Awards

The biographical drama of legendary Hindustani classical vocalist Pandit Vasantrao Deshpande became our defining work — winning 7 Filmfare Marathi Awards including Best Film, plus a National Film Award for Best Playback Singer (Male) at the 69th National Film Awards. The film positioned Darshan Productions among India’s most decorated independent Marathi film production houses.

Legendary Indian art director and the inspiration behind Darshan Productions. Ram Yedekar designed Sholay, Gandhi, Guide, A Passage to India, Octopussy, and Mera Gaon Mera Desh — collaborating with Richard Attenborough and David Lean. Filmfare Best Art Director, 1963.
